King George III (George William Fredrick) was 38 years old at the time of the Revolution. He was born in 1738 and died in 1820. George played a huge role in the revolutionary war. He was the leader (hence king) of England. (Britain) George died in 1820 (after the Revolutionary war) because of the mental illness porphyria. (Porphyria is a defect in the blood that causes mental illness if not treated.) George died blind, deaf, and insane. King George ruled for a very long time, ending with a total of 59 years as king!!
Several quotes from King George III that I found interesting are, "A trader is everyone who doesn't agree with me." I found this interesting because this was talking about Americans but it also could mean some of the British people if they didn't agree with something he thought was true. The other quote is, "Knavery seems to be so much a striking feature of it's inhabitants that it may not in the end be an evil that they will become aliens to this kingdom." I thought this was important because King George is saying that the Americans and even some of the British citizens are knave. (Knave - A person that is unpredictable, untrustworthy, or dishonest.)
